Located in Northern California, forty-five minutes west of the city of Redding in the northern Coastal Mountain Range, the Lewiston Valley Motel is ideal as a base camp for your fly fishing vacation. Within walking distance of the "Catch and Release - Fly Fishing Only" stretch of the Trinity River and only a five minute drive to Lewiston Lake, you are perfectly situated to choose your fishing pleasure.

The Motel

Opened in 1992, this new motel consists of twelve units, eight of which have two queen beds per room and four with one queen bed. Each room has a refrigerator, microwave, full bath, coffee maker, telephone, satellite T.V., air conditioning, and central heating.
Wi-Fi internet access is also available in all rooms.

Also offered for your convenience on the premises is ice, fax service, and R.V. parking. Within a short walk is an excellent family-style restaurant, gas station and mini-mart. The staff of the motel will help you with fishing guide service and directions to our local fly shops. Maps are available for river fishing, day hikes to alpine lakes, and scenic drives the whole family will enjoy.

The Lewiston Valley Motel comes highly recommended by the county-wide Chamber of Commerce as an economical, clean and friendly vacation spot. The full size pool with patio is a welcome alternative to the chilly waters of the Trinity River.

One available rental cabin

Lewiston Valley Motel offers private cabins; a whole new way to get away. Currently we have one rental available, shown here. With a roomy 6-foot by 8-foot deck with a gas barbecue, as well as an enclosed porch, both with a view of the Trinity Alps, they are a relaxing alternative to the motel rooms and RV spaces.

Inside the cabin you'll find a spacious living room area with an electric fireplace, satellite TV with built-in DVD player, recliner, and sofa which becomes a full-size bed. There's a kitchen and bathroom with shower, as well as a bedroom with a Queen-size bed and two closets. Upstairs in the loft there are two twin beds for even more sleeping space. The cabin has room heaters and central A/C for keeping the temperature just right no matter what time of year you come.

The kitchen is completely furnished with all dishes and untensils, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, oven and range, sink, coffee maker, ample cabinet space and plenty of countertop to work on.

The cabin comes furnished with various sizes of bath towels, all bed linens, and a full set of cookware, so all you have to bring is food, and any games to play, and you!

The RV Park

Added in 2002, the RV Park offers grassy, level sites with a great view of the Trinity Alps, all within walking distance of the restaurant, mini-mart, and motel. This small, quiet park has 7 pull-through spaces and 2 back-ins, each 65 feet long with 30-amp or 50-amp service, water, and septic hookup. Self-contained units only, please.

Guests in the RV Park enjoy access to the same facilities as motel guests, including the full-size pool, barbecue/picnic area, and horseshoe pits.

Fishing on the Trinity River

The Trinity River is within walking distance from the motel and offers a wide range of fishing. In the fall Chinook and Coho Salmon are present, during the fall and early spring Steelhead are abundant, and German Brown Trout are present all year. The best fishing hole around is just minutes from the motel.

Lewiston Lake

Lewiston Lake is only 1 1/2 miles away from the motel and has the best fly fishing around. Lewiston gets its water from the bottom of Trinity Lake which gives it a consistently low temperature. Because of the colder water, it supports a large population of Rainbow and Brown Trout, as well as a population of Kokanee Salmon. Lewiston Lake is maintained at a full level year round. The top speed on the lake is 10 mph, which makes for a very peaceful day of fishing.

Enjoy rafting, swimming, canoeing, bird watching, biking, or just relaxing in a quiet, old-time atmosphere. DON'T forget to visit nearby Weaverville with its many attractions like the Joss House, museums, art center, and old Victorian homes with a self-guided walking tour.

The Alps Wilderness

The Alps offer magnificent Alpine scenes with over 70 high mountain lakes for dayhiking, backpacking, mountain biking and horsepacking. The Alps also offer the hunter many opportunities with deer, bear, turkey, ducks, and quail. There are cross-country ski trails during the winter months. The Alps are just a short drive from the motel.

Trinity Lake

Trinity Lake has 145 miles of shoreline. It supports an excellent population of largemouth and smallmouth bass, rainbow, brown trout and catfish. Trinity Lake is recognized as one of the state's top bass fisheries and Kokanee are also very popular. Other activities include houseboating and water skiing and you'll love the warm temperatures for swimming. It's just 2 short miles to the lake.

Cabin Rates for 2009

The cabin rents for $125.00 per night and is subject to a two-night minimum stay.
There is a discounted rate of $800.00 per week for extended stays.
These rates apply for up to 4 guests. Each additional guest is $10.00 per night up to a maximum of 6 guests age 6 or over.
